Subject: tud-org-intstud-snaps: Festival Music Worlds

Dear international student!

On Saturday, 1st of May, from 10 to 18 h we have an interesting activity for you! That day, the ‘Music Worlds’ music festival will take place at the Culture building (Mekelweg 10). Here, there will be both attention for the classical music world, in the form of public masterclasses for singing, piano, strings and winds, but also for world music, with accessible workshops, concerts and other nice activities.

As for classical music, we have several experienced professional musicians who will come and teach in the masterclasses. Feel free to walk in and attend these lessons. If you happen to play a string instrument, wind instrument, or the piano and you would like to be an active masterclass student: this might still be possible, but react quickly then and please send a mail to krashna not later than Tuesday, 27th of April. Participation fee is 25 per person. A lunch will be included and you will receive at least 45 minutes of lesson time.

As for world music, you can expect accessible workshops with a.o. djembe percussion, Latin American music and Balinese kecak. Participation is free of charge and no registration is required beforehand.

Another interesting part of the programme is a continuous open stage we would like to have during the festival, for which we especially welcome world music contributions! We know that many of you are playing traditional music from your home countries, and would be very happy if you’d like to share this music with us. We already will have students playing traditional Spanish and Argentinian songs and Irish music on this stage, but we are aiming for an ongoing music experience, and for that we need many more musicians! So if you would like to perform on our open stage, or if you know people who might be interested, let us know soon, also by mailing us at <strong title="mailto:krashna. People who decide ad hoc that they would like to perform are always free to do so, but if you let us know before, we appreciate that, so we can keep an overview of the schedule.

From 16 to 17 h, there will be a closing concert in room 232 of the Culture building, in which you can hear the masterclass teachers and some workshop results. After that, we will finish the day with some closing drinks. Within a few days, a full time schedule will be appearing at

We hope to have many interesting cultural exchanges and discoveries on Saturday, 1st of May! See you all then!
